1. Do I need a permit for an outdoor fire pit?: Outdoor fire pits with a screened spark arrester, outdoor fireplaces and barbecue pits are considered recreational fires and do not require a permit. Seasoned dry firewood is the only allowable fuel to be used in outdoor fireplaces and outdoor fire pits.

2. May I burn leaves or trash?: Seasoned dry firewood is the only allowable fuel to be used in outdoor fireplaces and outdoor fire pits. Trash, leaves, etc. are prohibited for recreational fires.

3. What number should I call in case of emergency?: In case of emergency, dial 911. For non-emergencies, call 314-645-3000.
